By exploiting the communications infrastructure
that is available in most organisations today,
BdM Development can take the information held
in the training department and make it available
to anyone and everyone in the organisation. Even
if that organisation is a European-wide network
of thousands of retailers.
Our brief for one such project was to web-based
learning portal and application to allow independent
retailers to take ownership and control of their
staff development, within a centrally defined
framework. The system had to ensure the same core
business processes were observed in each of 20
European countries especially in reporting, whilst
allowing each country to be able to customise
and brand the Retailer facing components of the
system to meet local needs.
The resulting "Retailer Training Interface" that
we developed delivers both the structure and autonomy
required. It is the central focus of all learning
activities among the on-line community for both
traditional and e-learning.
The system is under continuous development and
enhancement in response to the emerging needs
of the network but already offers:
- Comprehensive courseware information and search
facilities
- Training planning
- On-line enrolments
- Integrated web-based training delivery
- Kirkpatrick level 1, 2 and 3 evaluation
- Automated messaging
- Reporting and analysis
